Fern Creek Hokum-Karem Cross Country

A hokum-karem is a cross country relay race. Runners will run in pairs, with one member of the pair running while the other rests. We won’t carry batons, “exchanges” will be by the slap of the hand. The first leg for each runner will be 3,000m, and the second leg will be 2,000m, for a total of 10,000m for each pair.
As they become available, course maps, participating teams, rosters, HyTek file, etc., will be posted here.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to heat restrictions, the boys and girls
races will be combined into a single race beginning at 7:00pm.
Race Schedule
6:00pm Varsity Boys 10,000m/pair (each runner runs 3k and 2k legs) $10/pair, $40/team
7:00pm Varsity Girls 10,000m/pair (each runner runs 3k and 2k legs) $10/pair, $40/team
8:00pm Awards Presentation
A team consists of at least 3 pairs of runners. Results will be based on time, with the
lowest total time of the first 3 pairs winning.
Multiple teams may be entered. If you have an odd number of runners, we
will pair extras up with a runner from another team so that everybody gets to
run.
Awards
Varsity: Pairs: 1-20 medals, 21-50 ribbons; Teams: 1-3 Trophies
JV: Pairs: 1-15 medals, 16-50 ribbons; Teams: 1-2 Trophies
Individual awards will be given out in the finish chute.
Entry Deadline
All entries are due to bcrumbo@yahoo.com by Thursday, August 28. Entries submitted after Thursday, August 28, will be charged an additional $30 late fee. Entries will likely be done by fax/email since HyTek does not lend itself well to paired entries.
